It it with deep regret that we announce the passing of Detachment Life Member Robert G. Wasiczko, a resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023 at the age of 94.
Robert was a proud United States Marine, who served in WWII. He was an active member of VFW Post 375 and held many VFW titles and positions throughout the years.
Robert was the beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Robert John (Galina), Catherine (Joseph, Jr.) Mackus and Thomas Wasiczko. Cherished grandfather of Cathy-Jo (Eric) Hoey, Joseph A. III (Stephanie) Mackus, Lauren (Wayne) Lair and Michael (Morgan) Wasiczko. Dear great grandfather of Jillian Hoey, Riley Mackus, Penelope Mackus, Victoria Lair, Alexandra Lair, Colby Wasiczko and Jessa Wasiczko. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Patricia Wasiczko.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 129 E. Birch Street, Mount Vernon, NY 10552. He will then be laid to rest with his parents at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 95 Kings Highway, New Rochelle, NY 10801. The family will be present on Wednesday, March 29th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services – 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704.
