Passing of Detachment Life Member John G. Daly Jr.

John G. Daly

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Detachment Life Member John G. Daly, Jr., 83, a longtime resident of Cortlandt Manor, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 26, following a brief illness. John was born on July 8, 1940, in White Plains, NY to John G. “Jack” and Margaret Daly. While still a senior at Archbishop Stepinac High School, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served on active duty from 1958 to 1961, and as a reservist until 1964. He worked for the City of White Plains from 1961-1966; the Scarsdale Fire Department from 1966 until his retirement in 2002, and in his spare time he did roofing and painting. He was active in local and national veterans and first responder organizations and, as a parent, volunteered with the Boy Scouts. John is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons John Joseph, Patrick (Dina), Michael, and Kevin; grandchildren Jack and Erynn; his brother Thomas (Patricia), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.   The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff at White Plains Hospital—especially its ICU team, Burke Rehabilitation, and Amedisys for their exemplary care. In place of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps League Foundation Scholarship Program https://www.mclfoundation.org/donations or the First Responders Foundation https://firstrespondersfoundation.org/donate/.
